Go Karin Go!
Who will be there at the end for you to jump and straddle this time?
Thanks for reminding me of Karin's finishing line habits, Cheryl. I was thinking of driving out to cheer her on but I don't know if I can take another of her "episodes"! Just kidding.
Karin, I hope you have a fantastic race. You have trained so hard and you are more then ready to reach your goal time. If we can't make it out to see you run, we will be thinking of you and sending running vibes your way. Thank you for all the laughs and good times over the last 4 months; it has been a blast running with you!!!
Kathy
Karin,
This blog is just for you!! Think of how special you are. And you felt lonely not doing Chicago. We are one of 40+, you have your very own blog space and picture.
YOU GO GIRL!!!!!

Hi Karin ...it's me, Mare!
Thought I would jump on the marathon blog to wish you a fantastic race this weekend!!!
I know you will have an excellent run - you are strong and ready.

Hey Karin - yikes!!!! What the heck was I thinking last night about not acknowledging your marathon this weekend!!!!! Have a GREAT time and enjoy every step on the way. You always have a big smile on your face so I'll expect to see a great finishing line photo. Head out slow, keep the pace and kick butt at the end!!!
Have a great race on Sunday Karin! The weather gods will be in your favour and you will be able to enjoy your run and the gorgeous countryside too. Wishing you strong legs and a determined mind on Sunday! Stephanie
Hi Karin;
Run your race and enjoy. You have traines long and hard for this race you are fully ready for it.
Hi Karin,
Best wishes for a great marathon!!
Terri
Hey Karin - oops - I had a brainlock - your marathon is NEXT weekend on October 14...haha...guess you got lots of cheering 7 days ahead of time!
Hi Karin:

Lynn said,
Karin have a great race on Sunday! May the wind be at your back and the sun behind the clouds.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes. I'm getting nervous and excited. I just spent the last 20 mins watching inspirational videos from past Chicago Marathons. You guys who ran last weekend are my inspiration and new running heroes!! I can't believe you ran a marathon in those conditions - you guys are amazing!! However, I'm thrilled to see 14 as the predicted high for Sunday (please no wind).
Karin
Hi Karin,
I hope that you have a great race on Sunday.
I went to school in Kingston and I really love Eastern Ontario, so I am very curious to hear all about this marathon.
Enjoy, Avis
Have a great race Karin - we will all be with you in spirit!
Karin
I just know that you will have a great run this weekend - especially if you have cooperative weather. You are such a great runner - just relax and go for it!
We'll be thinking of you Sunday.
Jo

Hi Karin,
Enjoy your race this weekend. The weather looks great...so enjoy!!
Success is completing all the training for a marathon... the race is simply the victory lap. Have fun with your 42.2 km victory lap.
Doug
good luck on Sunday Karin! the weather forecast looks kind which always helps :-)
Have a great run--I'm looking forward to hearing about this marathon!
Hey Karin,
It looks like Sunday will be a perfect day for running. I hope you have a great race in your "Boston warm-up".
Dave
Hey Karin - have a great run tomorrow - you are a wonderful role model for your kids!
AWESOME run today, Karin. Congratulations!!!! Looks like Boston is going to be an annual event for you and your family now that you are going in 2008 and 2009! Can't wait to see you and hear all the details about your race.
Take Care,
Kathy
Thanks everyone for your support and encourgment. I'm back and sore and finally am happy with my run. More importantly, I'm really happy with how I dealt with a tight quad (started at 8k) and tight calves (at 34k). I felt great and was on pace for a 3:35:00 up until 34 - that's when I gave Daryl my 3:35 pace band. I refocused on 3:40 and at 37 I knew that wasn't going to happen. So I walked up both hills (lost about 2 min) and ran the last 3k in at 5:16 pace just hoping to qualify. I finished! Came fourth in my age group - should not have let that woman pass me at 37 - she came 3rd!! Got my massage and drove home with very mixed feelings. I didn't have the same high at the end and really missed my running buddies. When I got home and checked my time I was thrilled to notice that I bettered my Mississauga time by a full min - very happy with that!!!
Thanks everyone again (especially Kathy, B'Ann, Cheryl, Mare, Jo, Karen, the 3:30 group and Dave!!!)Karin
Karin
AMAZING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well done for bettering your Mississauga time all on your own what a great run considering the lack of support and the hills. A bummer to have lost 4th place like that - but it's really not important in the scheme of things.
I really must hurry to run a Boston qualifying time - I would love to join you in 2009!
Congratulations again!
Jo
Hi Karin - congratulations on marathon #2! And you PBed by a minute - so you are like a fine wine, getting older and getting better. :-) See ya Thursday - bring your medal!
Congratulations Karin!!!!!! I wish I could have been there but I was cheering you on from home.
Just think how fast you would have been on a flat course???? Can't wait to see the hardware.
B'Ann
Karin - I am so happy for you!!!! Well done on a fantastic race!!! I hope that you are proud of your accomplishment - I am really proud of you. A PB - fabulous! Can't wait to hear your story... And, can't wait to start training with you again for Boston 2008. We definitely have to try and figure out those calf cramps for both of us. :) Mare
